Mid-Week Rides: Two ride north
Chris writes:
It was a hardy group of riders that appeared at the North End View Area for the Golden Gate Bridge before 8:00am this morning. We left at 8:00am straight-up for the ride to breakfast at the Golden Egg Omelette House in Novato. I checked on the weather prior to departure from home as it had rained hard in spots during the night. The radar picture, just ten minutes old on my viewing, showed reflectivity in northern San Francisco with some more poised just off the Marin County coast. Real men ride, right?
Well, we chased a shower through Mill Valley, no rain, just extremely wet pavement and spray from adjacent vehicles, but then reached San Rafael in which we caught a short downpour of maybe 4 minutes duration. No rain in Novato! Yeah! The group had a minor problem being seated given our mass but we were out’n on the road North right on time.
We took a group photo in downtown Pope Valley, pictured L.
to R. are Marco Hyman, Bill Grass, Major WWWobble, Dick Zunkel (our
erstwhile photographer), Jon Beining, Bill Grass, Randy Bush, and Brent
Hansen. Standing next to Brent, in the blue’n gray riding suit is Simon
Hanson and then yours truly, Chris Weld. Group was so large I had to go
to wide-angle but you’ll note everybody smiled.
[Editors note: har, har, har!]
We caught a downpour, albeit a brief but intense one, on leaving the boat dock at Cohn Dam/Lake Hennessey. 252 miles for Chris on the day!
