Five riders took a brisk winter ride starting with breakfast in Livermore. Maybe 200 miles covered under blue, but cool sky. Pictures from Bob, Chris, Dick, and Marc.
Yet another ride in search of Fall Foliage. This one led by Chris to the north bay. Some nice colors were found once we got away from the foggy coast. About 275 miles from home-to-home.
The Mid-week Photographers Riders braved blue skies and temperatures in the mid 70s on this November day looking for fall colors.
Chris supplies many pictures and a write-up of the Veterans Day ride over Nacimiento-Ferguson road also attended by Bill and Dick.
Major WWWobble and Marc take their camera and go looking for fall foliage colors in the Santa Cruz mountains. So how come there are lots of pictures of the Pigeon Point lighthouse on the coast?
Not so much a ride as an excuse to take some pictures using the long lens. A 30 mile loop on the R69S in the Sun on the last day of September.
Marc turned a visit with his mom in Pacifica into a short short solo ride down the coast.
Dick provides a nice write up of a late summer mid-week ride north of the Golden Gate Bridge attended by four riders. Chris sends lots of pics from the ride.
Four riders headed south to Big Sur for lunch at the Cafe Kevah. Not too hot, not too cold. About 250 miles for me. Dick lead this ride with only one missed turn (for half of the group).
Chris and Pat joined five riders for breakfast in San Francisco before the riders took off in search of perfect weather. Simon joined us for the first half of the ride before he left to run needed errands. 210 miles on my bike, 70 degree temps for most of the ride, some new roads traveled. Great ride.
A short, hot ride started with breakfast in Livermore, a ride on the single lane, bumpy, and twisty Morgan Territory road, with stops in Altamont and Sunol.
Why did the mid-week riders go to Sacramento? Sacramento wasn’t on the original itinerary. The destination was to be Locke, then back via various back roads.
Marc, Eric, Chris [The Captain], and Bob [Major WWWobble] rode north on a day when heat records were being broken all over the bay area. Heading toward the “cool coast” seemed like a good idea in the planning stages. Too bad the coast was anything but cool.
Leave San Mateo at 8, Breakfast in Livermore about 9. Home 250 miles later.
WWWobble, Eric, and Marco head east, south, west, then back north in
a 300 mile loop with the Panoche Inn more-or-less the destination.
At Dick’s request we headed south after breakfast in Cupertino. After a freeway slog to the mission at San Juan Bautista Marc led the way to the coast. Note for future rides: don’t make a habit out of forgetting to bring your wallet, causing your riding mates to buy you breakfast, gas, lunch, etc.
From the pictures it looks like three riders headed north of the Golden Gate bridge. If they followed the plans from an earlier email message I suspect they rode up to Healdsburg after breakfast for West Dry Creek and worked their way through Asti for the north-end of the Geyser’s Loop and then came south from there. Or they took some other route.
Pictures from a Saturday after brunch ride around Calaveras Reservoir. Hey, we’re retired. Saturday can be part of the mid-week if that’s what we want.
WWWobble and Marc took a short ride on this first day of spring, 2008. Out and back was just under 100 miles. Lunch was at the Gazos Grill.
Three riders headed north toward Clear Lake under partly cloudy skies and 60ish temps on what is likely to be the last mid-week ride of the winter. Pictures from Marc and Chris.
Al is still here from Buffalo, trying to escape winter. What better way than a ride in the north bay under a mostly blue sky with yellow flowers green hills. Sure beats white snow.
Yep, it’s still winter. Chris tells how easy it is to get lost on the way to Patterson for a beginning-of-the-week, President’s day midweek ride that eventually wound up at the top of Mt Hamilton.
A winter ride (honest, even if it did hit 70 deg the calendar still says it’s winter) down the coast and over the Carmel Valley road with a stop at the mission near Solidad.
Marc rides to brunch in Watsonville where he meets Darryl. Originally the ride was going to be a 350 mile loop over Naciemiento-Ferguson road but the weather caused one rider after another to change plans. Wet, cold, and the possibility of snow will do that.
