Mid-Week Rides: Carmel Valley Road

A rare mid-summer mid-week ride was called. The goal was Carmel Valley road. Timing and destination must have been right as ten riders from both sides of the bay met in Cupertino for breakfast than headed south. Dick suggested getting there via SR 25. Sounded fine. Marc led until the gas stop in King City. Almost everyone topped off their tank. Chris had other ideas.

Chris led from the gas station. He led many of the group to a turn-off on 101 that lead nowhere by believing his GPS that this particular turn-off was Central Ave. Marc missed the turn indication and kept on going, thinking that he’d catch up with the group after taking the next left. WWWobble followed Marc knowing that the left Chris et al was trying to take wasn’t Central Ave. The next left was. Here, watch the video.

Bob took the lead until Carmel Valley road when Chris took over. Lunch was at the place with crap on the roof in Carmel Valley. After lunch Bob led. We lost Dave and Randy somewhere along the line… possibly when Chris noticed that there was no planned stop for gas — he was the only rider who needed any at this point. After a tour of the back roads of Marina looking for a gas station we stopped and waited for Chris to fill up then found SR 1 again. Marc again missed a turn the group took and again wound up going the right way. The group caught up, heading north towards home with various riders peeling off along the way.
