Mid-Week Rides: Damp Ride North
Wednesday, Jan 29 2014
Wednesday’s mid week ride all started by Chris saying lets take a ride and Bob saying how about Occidental.
Chris Weld, Marc Hayman, Bob Burns and Randy Bush arrived at the Dip Sea Restaurant in Mill Valley for Coffee. After weaving his way through heavy traffic from the East Bay, Don Theile arrived but missed getting his cup of Coffee.
Every one lined up and soon Marc took the lead and we headed north on beautiful HWY 1 in light rain and fog. Don’t recall ever seeing the ocean. A stop in Tomales to put on rain gear, to light up Chris’s smoke stack and spend some time flapping our mouths. Soon we were on our way with Bob in the lead going up Hwy 1 since he knew the turn off to Occidental. Right on to Bodega Hwy, left on Joy Road and into Occidental arriving at the Historic Howard Station Café where we enjoyed some great fellowship and wonderful food. Randy had to skip our early to head for home.
Back on our motor bikes with better weather and Chris in the lead we headed West on Coleman Valley Road, left on Joy Rd, left on Bodega Hwy, right on Freestone Valley Ford Road to Hwy 1. then a left onto Tomales Petaluma Rd, right on Chileno Valley Rd, left on Marshall Petaluma Rd than a stop at the Cheese Factory for a rest room stop and a admire all the Canada Geese and duck around the large pond. Sure were a lot of left and rights and Chris seem to have them all in his head.
While the weather certainly could have been better on the way up, I’d say we had a nice ride to and exceptional destination, Occidental for a great lunch.
It was damp. Not quite rain, but more than a heavy fog. This was the first damp day in almost 2 months (and we need the rain). Perhaps Chris should call more rides. He seems to have a knack for picking damp days.
