This is the final MWR 2016 eye-witness Report.

I am somewhat uncertain, but Livermore as the starting point? What is wrong with these guys?! I have to ride 45 minutes, just to get to the starting point! Seems to me unreasonable… someone had to be sick! It was cold, lonely, too early… Brrr! Okay I lie. So far maybe two for two: Sick and Lying! and this story just got started.

Whatever! It was nice to see The Captain, WWWobble, and Mike arrive. It was 10:00 am at Mike’s Cafe in Livermore (no relation to Mikes Cafe in Willow Glenn… cousin perhaps?). At first we thought, this is it! no one else coming… “let’s go inside and do what we do best”. We applied ourselves to breakfast with intensity and gusto… in mid performance, Markus, sheepishly surfaces. “Sorry guys, I am late”. It was perfectly okay. We like him anyway, besides that it gave us time to have an expensive cup of bad coffee for the second time. “Markus, just do not make any other silly requests”. “Oh yeah! And I do not have gas, need to stop at a gas station”. Who said? “we like him anyway”. Keep it up Markus… keep it up.

Breakfast was the usual happy event. Wondering were everyone else was. After all this is the last event for the year.

Alberto, so far remains unduly quiet, not a word from him - He is almost not present.

Soon enough we were off to Vasco Road. Everything is luscious green, the air is fresh and the spirit is high. Heading straight North Vasco Rd becomes Highway 4. While not long ago this area was a sleepy community of ranchettes (is this a word?). Housing developments have brought population to the area and with it the rigors of traffic-lights, shopping areas etc. Brentwood, Oakley, Antioch busy communities along highway 4.

At Antioch, heading north on Highway 160, brings you to Antioch Bridge. Surprisingly, the peak of the bridge is quite high - what a view! As you head north and the winds heading south… well, you got it, High Winds for the puny bikes. It only added to the excitement. Then loop around Sherman Island on the [bumpy] levee road. New road for all but Chris, and on to Rio Vista for lunch at The Point which has a nice view of the water. From here we took the freeway home.

I admit, it was a great ride. As far as I remember… a beautiful day. Pity that I wasn’t there.

Report based upon this message from WWWobble

Dear Avocado,

The Captain is trying to make me do yesterday’s MidWeek Ride write up. I don’t want to. We have an official scribe (that would be you), so I suggested that I give you a few of the details, and let you do the after ride report. You know how these rides progress and I’m sure you’ll do a fine job. And it will make you feel better knowing you were able to participate in this manner. Don’t worry too much about accuracy. Accuracy never bothers Breitbart, Fox, Democrats, or the National Enquirer and people love it. So, onward with a good story….

Here are the details

  1. Four riders (the Captain, WWWobble, Markus and Mike) met at Mike’s Cafe in Livermore at 10am 1a. Not our Mike’s cafe, a different Mike.
  2. Markus was late.
  3. And needed fuel.
  4. But we like him anyway.
  5. Because it gave us time to have an expensive cup of bad coffee
  6. Then off to Vasco Road. Green. Windmills.
  7. Then Hwy 4 to 160 and
  8. Over the Antioch Bridge.
  9. Then loop around Sherman Island on the [bumpy] levee road. New road for all but Chris.
  10. And on to Rio Vista for lunch at The Point which has a nice view of the water.
  11. Then we took the freeway home.

Feel free to add comments, details as you imagine them, whatever you’d like to do. It’s your story from the scribe who missed the ride.

WWWobble

PS: We all hope you are feeling better
